Well, the icon lies (this year) - I voted using a ball-point pen, and the ballot was dropped off last night at my local moviehouse. Being an off-year election, there were a bunch of races I wasn't following (county auditor, regional middle muckety muck, school poobah), so I didn't feel comfortable voting for people this year.

However, there were numerous issues on the ballot that I did feel more educated about. Do we need transportation? Yes. Do we need money for schools? Sure.

They gave me some "I voted" stickers, which are around here someplace. If only I still had my sticker album from my youth. Oooh, next year, the "I voted" stickers could be puffy, or glittery, or have googly eyes. That'd rock.

county auditor

I first read that as "county agitator".

Don't forget oily stickers. (Although I'm generally the only person who remembers those, so maybe you *have* forgotten them.)

were those the ones with an emulsion of shiny liquid held inside a thin plastic bubble?

If I'm remembering them correctly - and I'm not saying I am - that reminds me of hypercolor t-shirts. What became of that technology?

Yep, those are the oily stickers. I think they were meant to be psychedelic, but really the only reaction was, "ooh, shiny!"

Re: Hypercolor, I will say that kids these days have no idea what it is, as evidenced by a reference I made to it not long ago, when we bought color-changing promotional pencils:

Me: "Ooh, these are like Hypercolor shirts!"
20-year-old College Kids: "Buh?"
Me: "Never mind. (I need a drink and some Geritol now.)"
