I just saw "Arsenic and Old Lace" at the Second Story Repertory Theatre in Redmond.
The lead actor in this show was the director of the last show I saw, and the director of this show has acted in a few other shows I've seen. Also, the woman who played the brainy chick in "Proof" appeared in this show. (I posted about that. Months ago.)
So. Great great cast. Great performances.
Afterwards, there was a reception - the cast and some of the crew met with some of the audience to eat and drink. Some of you know me well enough to know that it takes me a while to really find my place in a public situation. So. I was sort of hovering near the food, chatting with people for a few sentences, and then drifting away. At one point, the "cool kids" called over and invited me to sit down at their table. I was able to chat a tiny bit about Linear B and Drunken Cursive, but much of the conversation had to do with the problems that equity actors have to go through, which left me in my familiar quiet observer mode.
Of course, I was able to smile and nod a great deal.
Disappointing footnote: brainy chick actress, mentioned above - married.
Still. Good times. Maybe one of these days I'll find my way into community theatre again. It's refreshing to be around theatre geeks instead of computer geeks.
