A lesson to learn from this movie: take note of where the bottomless pit is when you ride IN to the kingdom; you'll never know when this kind of information will come in useful.
I understand that Iran is upset at the portrayal of the Persians in the movie. They must have got up before the end - it says right there that the movie's fictional, and no connection to real people, events, or buildings(!) should be inferred.
I'm halfway tempted to read a bit of history to see if Sparta really had that sort of technological advantage over the Persians. It seemed to me that the Spartans had really big shields, and the Persians didn't. End of story.
The oddest bit was the music that the cinema chose to play before - it was a collection of Tony Bennett hits. I didn't even know he was Spartan.
Oh, also, did I mention? Lots of blood captured in mid-spurt. If you're not interested in a movie with geysers of crimson, you may wish to pass on this one.
