I'm saying that second place counts as "award winning"
So, if you look here:

you'll see the results of that programming challenge I entered 3 weeks ago. Now, I've been studiously avoiding calling it a "contest", preferring to call it a "challenge" - I didn't want to focus on winners or losers - anybody who completed a game counts as a winner, in some sense.

In another sense, I didn't get first place, and there's some part of me that wishes I did.

Relax - deep breath. It's not about the score.

(I only got a 3.6 on production? Really? I had a freaking options screen. An intro MOVIE. Ish. Some people thought that the vector art was worth marking me down for, and ok, maybe they're right. Some people spent a lot of time on pixel art. I drew a circle and moved on.)

It's not about who came in first.

(Not to begrudge the guy who beat me, but he didn't have clever subtitles in his game. And he didn't have 21 - or was it 22? levels.)

No. I finished a version of a game - maybe not to the point where I'd ask anybody to pay me for the game, but certainly to the point where I was pleased with the results. People enjoyed the gameplay. People laughed at the silly gags.

Second place doesn't suck.

No, second place does not suck at all, and i"m very proud that you entered the challenge. For me, just joining a challenge in my groups is half the battle!
