Yesterday, I woke up about the same time I usually do (which, I'll admit, is pretty late for a normal adult). I puttered around the house for a while, and played "just a little bit" of Super Paper Mario, not my favorite game, but one I'm anxious to finish - mostly to get rid of it.
I decided to go to a local walking/biking/running trail and enjoy the morning.
Two things I didn't pay attention to - I started walking later than I thought, and I was out longer than I thought I would. Which meant, I got back to my car around 1pm, having collected a fair amount of sunburn.
And I'm reminded that I need to put on sunblock. And I'm reminded that every year I re-learn this lesson.
I proceeded from there to a local brewery restaurant for lunch. The antics of the staff behind the bar were enjoyable. One of the things I enjoy most in life is a cute chick absently singing along to 80s music. My bartender/waitress did not disappoint.
A little shopping on the way home, "just a little bit" more Super Paper Mario, and off to a friend's place for a barbecue. The purist in me wishes there was a better word for an outdoor get-together with grilling. "Fire Picnic" or "Burger Bash" don't quite work for me.
The 5-year old daughter of my friends got to light off some fireworks at around 9pm, and that was about enough to slake my pyrotechnics appetite for the year. I headed home, missing traffic, but wondering if the roads would be noticeably less safe as it was getting dark, or if I was just being paranoid.
A slathering of aloe, and I was pretty pleased with the contents of the day.
