How well provisioned are you in the event of a flood?
I picture you leading an isolated, yet cheerful life of remarkable productivity -- grinding out code by day, fishing off your roof by night.
The difficulty I'd expect with that scenario is that in cases of extreme weather, I tend to lose electricity, which presents some problems.
I really need to set up a water wheel hooked to a generator to run my laptop and DSL modem.
Assuming I had sufficient utility service, I could probably live happily for two, maybe three weeks at home without restocking the larder. And there's a convenience store half a block away, which might help if I hit the store before it gets thronged by hordes of wet exurbanites.
