I walked on empty streets...

I've been obsessing about what life will have in store for me on Wednesday of this week; whether I'll be welcome at work or not. It doesn't really make much of a difference to me, but somehow it keeps me awake at night.

Utterly unrelated, though:
I wandered around Monroe on Saturday night. Monroe is a small town, maybe 4 or 5 miles to the East of my home. The other town nearby would be Woodinville, 4 or 5 miles to the West. Neither of them really have anything approaching "nightlife". I think that there used to be an 18+ dance club operating in Monroe within the past year, but that seems to have shut down.

I don't really have high expectations for my local nightlife, but maybe I should - I don't think that it's healthy for a locality to have Walmart after Blockbuster after McDonalds and not have anything open on a Saturday night.

All that said, Main Street in Monroe is kind of quaint. And about half of the commercial space is for lease. If I were to start a company that needed office space, I might consider locating there. Downtown Snohomish has a similar charm, plus a vibrant(?) antique community. I'm not sure how that could be leveraged by any business I might start. I invite the reader to ponder that.

Strangely, one of the few sources of sound in Monroe was the music store (you know, the people who sell sheet music and rent clarinets to 4th graders). They were piping Christmas carols out onto the street. Reminds me of the efforts to discourage loitering in malls by playing music by the likes of Tony Bennett. Maybe it was working - nobody was loitering anywhere in town.

Well, I've gotta motor if I'm going to make it to work.

This is really primarily for Cassie, but I rarely post here, so it's also an exercise in "how does LJ work again? Or how does it work today?".…

  • No mudslides for me, thank you.

Hey, is this thing on? I was just sending email to a mailing list (nothing exciting, don't feel insulted if you're not on it) that was thinking…

  • Trivial

So, this past weekend, a bunch of my friends / acquaintences / teammates got together and competed in a local trivia competition. There are a few…
