Press Release as Shopping List
Just in time for the holiday shopping season, the "Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility" issued this press release: http://www.iccr.org/news/press_releases/pr_jtstatement112304.htm

The guts of it are "violent games are bad. Don't buy these games for your kid". Which, I suppose, is a worthwhile goal - informing parents that some games aren't appropriate for children. Here's the "bad" list:

1. Doom 3
2. Grand Theft Auto: "San Andreas"
3. Gunslinger Girls 2
4. Half Life 2
5. Halo 2
6. Hitman: Blood Money
7. Manhunt
8. Mortal Kombat
9. Postal 2
10. Shadow Heart

I wrote a big rant about how wrong-headed this press release is, which I deleted. (Ask me for the highlights if you like.) Instead, I'll just say that if anybody knows where I can get my hands on a copy of Gunslinger Girls 1 or 2, it'd make a swell gift for me. Half Life 2 is quite a nice game, too, but I already finished that one.

Re: Have you played World of Warcraft?

So I have heard!

Most of my coworkers are playing it, and they go on and on about the quick leveling and the beautiful art. I've been disenchanted with Massively Multiplayer games for years now, though, so I haven't played it.

Finishing HL2 a week and a half ago felt really good - I should get a number of other games off my "to play" list before taking on any more new ones.
